Charleston Shooting: What Now, Saints?

Man, listen. This sucks. But if I can get your attention for a quick 3 minutes, I think we can get somewhere.

When I heard the news (meaning, saw the news on twitter), I wasn't shocked. I know the world we live in and I'm sure you do too. So, before I went to bed, being literally speechless, I asked the Lord "What do we do?" I'm not gonna tell you the word I got and I'll tell you why, later.

I'll tell you what was on my mind this morning though for the Body of Christ. "Don't fall apart".

Dear, Saints. Especially my fellow black Saints: a lot of things won't change. I hate to seem pessimistic. Our people made sure to see things change through equal rights protests and great movements that we benefit from today. I'm not saying lose hope that some things will change, but prepare your hearts and know that some things will not, and that it's for a purpose.

Be sure you're secure in Christ because we live in a nation that is due judgment. Things will get worse, but hope in the Lord. Wisdom is so necessary; it is the principal thing. Also, suffering is a part of the plan. We are SUPPOSED to suffer terrible things... it's not that bizarre when you look at the cross.

It could have been any of us in that sanctuary. I recognize that any minute, I could die as a result of the evil that thrives in the hearts of man. I thank God for His protection, even as a woman who often travels alone, but I know that anything can happen at any time, anywhere. Please, don't think it insensitive or uncompassionate when I say that, somehow, God is using all this for His glory.

Let's make sure that those that die in these days, since evil does abound, are saved. (Matthew 24:12)

Don't let your love wax cold, though it's been prophesied that many will. Don't fall apart. Be angry, okay, but allow yourself to refocus on our hope and pray. You may not hate people of another race, but you've fallen short of love at some point or another.

So, don't let injustice make you feel righteous.

If I may write in improper English for a second: I will say that I ain't with all this, but there's a point to it all. If you can't find words to pray, pray in your prayer language. If you don't have one, meditate on the Word. Ain't no way God has left us, and He didn't leave us to resolve these situations on our own. Act in wisdom. If God don't say move, sit your behind down. Be led by the spirit at all times. Don't be led by your anger. There were battles won by the Lord and men didn't necessarily kill their enemy. They were just obedient. Its in the Bible, go look if you don't believe me.

I'm not saying sit on your hands, I'm saying pray for wisdom on what to do. And IF the Lord says "just trust Me" ...then, just trust Him. Be rooted. Trust God at all times. If you must die, die. But die in right standing with the Lord.

I can't read that stupid stuff in the media. It's all a distraction from the bigger picture.

I'm not gonna tell you what I got from the Lord because (1) I want to challenge you to ask Him, yourself, and (2) I'm sure that He will reveal more instruction as time goes by. But before you  make a move, be open to hear the wisdom of the Lord. You'd be surprised as God may use you to lead a movement more effective than you could've imagined all because you decided to heed His voice. Before you think about rioting, just don't. Or if you're not convinced, ask the Lord if He wants you to participate and then obey.

Don't move without communicating with the Lord.

It is so very easy to miss the voice of God. Trust me, I know. It's easy to take a portion of what He says and manipulate it to mean something else, but I can promise you that if you never inquire about what the Lord actually wants you to do, the enemy will take that opportunity to befuddle you. However, if you have gotten a word from the Lord, you can march, knowing that God is with you -- you can rest, knowing that God is with you -- you can continue to go into churches, knowing that God is with you -- you can live courageously, knowing that God is with you.

Do not fear.
God is with us.
Isaiah 41:10
