Only God Can Judge Me

YOU'VE HEARD IT BEFORE!
Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. (‭Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭1-2‬ KJV)

And I agree! No one is in any place to judge a person’s heart, and in many cases, Christians have been in brute error on how to share the gospel. At the same time, many Christians have been misunderstood. No worries, I feel both sides! So, now let’s talk about it.

Oh, look! There’s also this, though:
Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. (‭John‬ ‭7‬:‭24‬ KJV)
RIGHTEOUS JUDGEMENT???!

“But I thought….” —right. You thought. Let’s make a habit of not just thinking, but searching the scripture. Searching what is true. You can finish reading this blog, but I most suggest that you read your Bible (I say this with love and tenderness although it may have come across as both judgmental and harsh. LOL)

There’s a difference between judgement and correction. When judgement is passed, it is accompanied with a heart of pride and disgust for the person that is being confronted.
Correction is accompanied with a heart of love and desire to spread truth. Correction does, in no way, exalt the person who is doing the correcting.

(For the Saints: The best way to be clear about your intentions is to show that you, too, have sinned and come short of the glory of God. The goal is not to get somebody at the same level as you. The goal is for us to work together to get to God's level.)

So, what is righteous judgement?

1. Judge YOUR life first.
For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. (‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭11‬:‭31‬ KJV)

2. Understand that you have no standard against which to judge. God is the ultimate judge and judgment is
His job.
Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God. (1 Corinthians 4:5 KJV)

Before the Lord; for he cometh to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity. (‭Psalms‬ ‭98‬:‭9‬ KJV)
For those who feel as if they don’t judge:

3. Understand that judgment is apart of everyday life. You judge whether or not to wear a coat in the winter. You judge when to speak and when it’s best to be quiet. And if you’re wise, you judge what your leaders say to make sure that they are telling you what is right.
I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say. (‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭10‬:‭15‬ KJV)
So, clearly there’s a proper manner to judge. Understand that you have a mind to make judgements on what is right and what is wrong/appropriate versus inappropriate. Nobody.. And I MEAN NOBODY, should think highly enough of themselves to judge a person’s life against their own. So, then our jobs as believers must be to judge what should be and what should not be according to the word of God and then we SHARE that truth. Not to condemn. Not to make ourselves feel more holy. Not to make a person feel ashamed (because come on, JESUS doesn’t make you feel ashamed, does He?)

SIDE BAR: Shame is not of God and should in no way be compared to conviction. Shame doesn’t redeem you, the blood does. Shame doesn’t correct you, the Holy Spirit does. So, we agree that shame isn’t of God? Good.

(Take one moment to imagine that I said that extra fast like they do at the end of commercials LOL)

Thanks for reading this blog, but I hope that, more than anything, you’re encouraged to search the scripture. In people, there’s debate. In the scripture, there is balance.

too much love,
